Ohio House seeks to move on redistricting
Posted by Twenty One on Nov 3, 2011 in Blog | 141 commentsThe Ohio House of Representatives has put together a revision for its redistricting map, and seeks to garner the necessary support to pass it as an emergency measure, thus averting a likely contentious ballot vote on the GOP’s initial map in November 2012.
House democrats, however, show no signs of coming across the aisle for this iteration of the legislation, so the effort may be a test of time and tolerance.
How long can Ohioans wait? No one knows for sure. But the longer the GOP holds statewide offices, the longer the party has to prove its record. Efforts are underway to trim fat and kick start the economy by creating jobs and inviting business to Ohio. By the time November 2012 rolls around, the GOP will have had a good long stretch of time to prove its merit, and the political climate be very different accordingly.
House Democrats are betting on failure by making the Ohio public wait and see. That’s not acceptable.
