Chesapeake, Exxon, Chevron and Marathon

The Dispatch reports today that the Ohio Ethics Commission has issued a warning to Robert Chase, who sits on the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission.

Chase has vast experience in the oil and gas industry, and heads the Department of Petroleum and Geology at Marietta College. The reasons for his appointment are clear: he knows the industry back and forth, which qualifies him for the position.

He also has a pretty thorough list of clients in the industry, including those listed in the title of this post. Do you think Chase should have to recuse himself? Should he keep his appointment?
